Yes, you can and should. However, if it's an emotional support animal or service animal, you cannot. Also, make sure that the maximum deposit is right, in your state, if there is one, that you're not exceeding that. So any deposits, combined pet and regular deposit, must be less than the max allowable security deposit in the state, if there is one. Some states don't have a max.
