If you rent your home on and off on a seasonal basis, but you don't rent it one year, do you still need to claim the depreciation for that year?

If you were offering it for rent, the property is still in service, so technically it's still a business. You just didn't get any customers. If you took it out of service, you maybe wouldn't report. It depends on the circumstances, actually.
