Kind of. So there are definitely some differentiations in California law between month-to-month rentals and annual leases. Also within like LA County and in the Bay Area, there are also differences. So... You may want to check with your local attorney. If you go from an annual to a month-to-month, does that reduce your requirements? Because it might in some cases. If it does reduce your requirements, then you might think, oh, I'll just go month-to-month now. However, I will say the tricky thing with that, obviously, is that they could leave at any time. So just take that with a grain of salt. If you want to have a month-to-month tenant because you want to avoid some of these laws, that's certainly a strategy. make sure you talk to your attorney and find out which laws you would be avoiding and if it's worth it or if you would prefer to have that annual lease.
