Can I report to credit reports or take a tenant to small claims for utilities fees since it's not included in rent?
How to Legally Get Your Unpaid Rent in 2025
I have one tenant who didn't pay their share of utilities fees since it's not included in the rent. First of all, my question to ask Michelle is can you report that to their credit reports? And then for Steve, can you take a tenant to small claims for those utilities?

When you're reporting the information, as long as utilities are outlined in the lease, you can report those. That's right, so those individuals that you report on, you report on utilities, and you can also report that on all the tenants that are signatories on the lease.
