I have not typically been issuing 1099s for contractors who I pay over $600. Am I treading on thin ice? How sticky is the IRS on this matter?

It really depends on how much we're talking about. But yeah, that's one of the reasons why I tell people about like, you need to report all your income because like, just because you don't get a 1099 doesn't mean somebody's not going to 1099 you later. I'm not going to recommend on that you do back 1099s, but go ahead.
